Gabriela’s Story

I was born and raised in Mexico City, where the Jewish community is tightly knit.

Growing up surrounded by friends and family gave me a strong sense of self, and deep connection to my Jewish heritage.

I came to the US as a college student, never imagining I would be raising my own children away from the world that was known to me.  Beth David, has offered us an opportunity to give our children a life that feels warm and much closer to the one we had growing up – a small school environment that feels much like a family.

I remember my son Ben was only two years old, I was with him at the school’s playground (which kids NEVER want to leave) and found him walking hand in hand with Erin, a then second grade student, who he called my friend!

My heart melted.

I was home.

I had come to find a place where my children feel safe and nurtured, a place where they will come back year after year, even after graduation and feel a strong connection.

From Ducles greeting us good morning at the gate, Rabbi Julie warming our hearts with her smile and angelic voice, the incredible teachers and directors who take our kids’ learning to heart, to the families who make up our community, we are forever in love.

I read your blog and I agree with you. Three of my children went to Gordon school of Beth David Congregation. We felt the love the warmth, we felt Home. I always recommend other families to be a part of this wonderful Big family that taking you under their wings & always care, specially when you are far a way from your own family.
Always in our heart ❤️ and yes we are also always in love.
We know when ever we go back to visit we always welcome.
    Love ❤️
